Artist Bio
Little Bear Illustration + Craft
Cara Finnerty Coleman was born and raised in Massachusetts, graduating in 2001 from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Her work focuses on woodland animals and their adventures across enchanted landscapes. Little Bear Illustration+Craft is named after the artist’s very own little bear, a small yet sturdy animal of questionable lineage. The Bear is her constant companion and together they have embarked upon many an adventure. After many years in the concrete jungle of New York City, these days the pair reside by the sea, taking in nature and finding inspiration wherever they roam. Cara’s work has been shown in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York City.

Materials and Techniques
I frequently combine different mediums within my work to create the optimal depth of subjects. Through multiple paint layers and fine detail brush or pen work, I strive to create images the viewer will feel a special connection to. My primary materials are watercolor, gouache, and acrylic paints, pen and ink, which are often combined to paint and draw on paper, wood, and canvas. I also hand carve linoleum blocks, using oil based ink to hand print the images on printmaking and watercolor papers and cards.
