Artist Bio
Originally from Arlington, Massachusetts, Kara studied Business and Fine Art at St. Michael’s College and Interior Design at Suffolk University. She spent many years working in marketing for software companies before making the switch
to Interior Design and then fine art. She currently works as a freelance artist.
Kara typically paints abstract images with representational value, which encourage the viewer to determine for themselves what they are (or want to be) looking at. Her works are often given a specific title, but Kara prefers hearing what others see when they look at her abstracted images – to experience the work through the filter of others.
Kara’s process typically begins with a pencil sketch, to plan out shapes and form. Once she begins on the canvas, she delves into the colors without constraint. Acrylics are her primary medium guided by various types of brushes and tools (her hands, scraps of cloth, palette knives etc.) to explore different textures. Kara creates on both new canvases as well as on recycled works left behind in garage sales and thrift shops.
Her artwork hangs throughout her own home, as well as the homes of countless friends, family, clients and in several CT and NH businesses. She resides in Bedford, NH with her husband and two boys.
