Artist Bio
Honored to have been awarded the “Show Favorite” for Sunset Sail on Plum Island at my first gallery group exhibit in January.
Moving closer to the Atlantic Ocean inspires me to paint the “Chart Your Course” series where I explore oil applied directly to navigational chart paper. I’m always eager to peel back the painter’s tape and see what’s left behind and revealed and left untouched by my paintbrush. This challenges me to DRAW. IN. THE VIEWER and evoke a response to a moment of time that captures and incorporates the navigational chart’s primary purpose for the mariner: safety. Similar to life, there’s much there that I don’t realize until a viewer points it out.
I’m a self-taught artist who studies impressionist techniques, takes professional continuing education classes and workshops and is guided and instructed by professional artists that inspire me to take that technique and make it my own way of expression. My craft is described as “Abstract Surrealism using Impressionist Techniques.”
